The Château de Fuissé reveals itself as a real family home, rich in history featured by the 15th century pentagonal tower and its renaissance stone porch dating back to 1604...
The VINCENT Family, owner of the estate since 5 generations (1862), perpetuate the legacy of its winemaking.
Inspired and encouraged by their fathers “Savoir Faire” each generation added land, improved quality enhancing the worldwide renown of the Château-Fuissé.
Two centenary bottle shaped yew trees guard the 15th century tower, reproduced on the label as an authentic signature of the wines.
Each generation has grown and developed the estate in a personal way:
1862 : Claude BULLAND buys the Château de Fuissé
1922 : Jacques VINCENT is one of the founding members of the POUILLY-FUISSÉ appellation
1948 : Marcel VINCENT develops the holdings and starts the selling of estate bottling
1967 : Jean-Jacques VINCENT allies traditional wine making to carefully applied modern technology
2003 : Antoine VINCENT, present holder and winemaker, continues the excellence of the family estate
The Château-Fuissé owns more than thirty hectares (80 acres) covering four appellations :
POUILLY-FUISSÉ : 23 hectares (58 acres)
SAINT-VÉRAN : 7.5 hectares (19 acres)
MÂCON-VILLAGES : 1.70 hectares 4,3 acres)
MÂCON-FUISSÉ : 0.90 hectares (2,2 acres)
The holdings all planted with Chardonnay are composed of many different parcels (104 plots) of which most are situated in the heart of the POUILLY-FUISSÉ appellation.
The diversity of these great “terroirs” and their complementary character (lime-stone and clay) offer structure and the finesse to the wines.
The appellations of SAINT-VÉRAN and MÂCON-VILLAGES with similar soil types form a “golden belt” around the prestigious POUILLY-FUISSÉ appellation.
Since 1985, in addition to the Château-Fuissé wines...
Carefully selected fruit from mostly family-owned vineyards are vinified with the same expertise and passion as for the wines of Chateau-Fuissé.
Under the VINCENT Signature, wines are produced from POUILLY-FUISSÉ, SAINT-VÉRAN, MÂCON-VILLAGES and BOURGOGNE BLANC. Also produced are two Crus of Beaujolais, MORGON and JULIÉNAS
“The respect of terroir, the vintage and the Chardonnay varietal are three essentials for the Château-Fuissé wines.
The vinification is adapted to the specifics of each parcel.
Vineyard expression, natural ripeness, concentration and mineral freshness form the identity and character of our great White Burgundy wines”
A special care is given to the culture of the grapes until the bottling of the wine
With an integrated viticulture and close observation of nature, special care is given to the soil and vines.
The grapes are handpicked, sorted and we apply, slow, whole bunch pneumatic pressing.
Each single cuvee is vinified separately in barrel or stainless in accordance to its origin.
Depending on the vintage malo-lactic fermentation is applied to stabilise the wines.
Close surveillance and regular tastings throughout the winemaking process assure regularity and impeccable wines.
